From Baker to Web Designer: Building Brands That Stand Out
How one creative turned real-world business experience into custom Wix websites that convert

Let’s start with the basics — who are you, what does your business focus on, and what types of services or solutions do you bring to clients through Wix?
Thanks so much for the opportunity to interview with you! I run a one-woman web design agency focused on helping wedding professionals, creatives, and small businesses stand out online. Through Wix, I offer everything from branding refreshes and template customization to ongoing website maintenance and fully custom-built websites.
How did you get started on Wix? Do you remember the first website you built and what made you choose this platform? And have your services or offerings evolved since those early days?
I first discovered Wix while running my cake-baking business. I originally started on WordPress, but it felt too complex—I was a baker, not a coder. Wix gave me the creative freedom to design a site that truly reflected my brand without needing technical skills. Over the eight + years I owned that business, my website went through many iterations, and Wix made it easy to evolve alongside it. I learned firsthand how essential a website is—not just to look good, but to function well—and it ultimately shaped the services I offer today.
What would you say makes your business unique? And for those who think Wix is “just templates,” what’s your take on why Wix is actually a strong platform for professional, custom sites?
What makes my approach unique is that I’ve been on the other side as a wedding vendor myself. I understand the need to attract the right clients as a business grows, which means a website has to be both visually compelling and structurally sound.
As for Wix being “just templates,” that’s a misconception. While Wix does offer strong templates, tools like Wix Studio now allow for a high level of customization and flexibility, making it a powerful platform for professional, custom sites. Every website builder has its pros and cons, but success ultimately comes from aligning the front-end design with a solid back-end structure that works for both users and search engines.

Tell us more about your core services. Do you have any projects that were especially challenging or rewarding? What did they teach you?
My core offering is custom web design, with additional services like branding kits, website maintenance, and template customization. While every project presents its own challenges, the most rewarding part is translating how a business wants clients to feel into the details of their site. Small choices—like animation timing or scroll behavior—can elevate a site from good to great. Those details take time and precision, and they’ve taught me patience and the value of thoughtful, intentional design.
Are you comfortable designing for any type of client, or do you have a niche that really feels like home? What earns you credibility in that industry?
I’ve worked with a variety of clients, and while I have a natural connection to wedding industry professionals due to my background, I don’t limit myself to one niche. That experience gives me strong insight into how creative, service-based businesses attract and connect with clients, and I enjoy applying that perspective across different industries.
Before we let you go, what are your top three pieces of advice for Wix users? And where can people go to learn more about the services you offer?
I’ve really enjoyed the chance to chat—thank you! My top three tips for Wix users are:
1. Set up your Site Style early to save time and keep your branding consistent across your site.
2. Explore Wix Studio’s built-in features before adding extras—it offers powerful, native tools without needing third-party apps.
3. Don’t be afraid to experiment with layouts and site flow; refining your design often takes a few iterations.
And if you ever feel stuck, reaching out to a Wix Pro can be a great next step. Anyone interested in learning more about my services can connect with me directly to explore how we can elevate their website and brand.
